About
Gloria Meer
Vision-Heart Art
Folk Artist
I built this website for my long-time folk artist friend and avid meditator Gloria Meer as she approaches her 8th decade. For the 25 years I have known her, she’s forever making fun folk art. At about mid-life Gloria found her “style” and ever since then she's been painting swaying palm trees, straight-talkin' snakes with red stripes relaxing in hammocks, primary colored angels floating with clouds and smiling suns.
When I first met Gloria, she told me she wanted a little house to display her joy-toys, as she calls her creations. She said it would have a sign out front that reads, “Ma Meer Lives Here.” Her vision inspired me to write a story about how to make her dream come true, and she illustrated it.
Gloria now lives in a little house in Georgia. All her walls and even her porch are covered with Ma Meer’s folk art. She paints on wood, designs greeting cards and makes sculptures with wheels. She’s inspired by spiritual writings that create funny images in her mind’s eye and by playful spirits who inhabit her dreams.
May you enjoy this virtual “Ma Meer Lives Here” on the web. And check out all her ebooks at Amazon.
